Gonorrhoea - a disease, sexually transmitted pathogen that is the gonococcus, which affects the mucous membranes of the genitourinary system, and with prolonged duration, and other organs and tissues.
Infection with gonorrhea occurs in any sexual contact (see the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases after the random links), and gonorrhea can be transmitted from mother to child during childbirth. Typically, the carriers of infections are women, because of the anatomical structure, hormonal and physiological characteristics.
When the disease affects the tissues and organs, covered with glandular or columnar epithelium: the organs of the urogenital system, rectum and eyes. With prolonged duration of gonorrhea infection spreads to the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous system. In severe cases, may damage the joints and blood poisoning (septicemia).
Getting on the genital mucous membranes, the pathogen is primarily localized to the urethra in men and in the cervix and the urethra in women. The incubation period ranges from 2 to 5 days after infection, after which the symptoms of the disease:
purulent discharge with an unpleasant odor of yellow, brown
pain after urination, burning
swelling and redness of the meatus

It should be remembered that gonorrhea in the early stages (especially women) can take place completely asymptomatic. Left untreated, the disease becomes chronic, the symptoms become less severe. In men, the infection causes urethritis, vesicles, prostatitis, orchitis, epididymitis, balanoposthitis, phimosis, etc. Women - adnexitis, salpingitis, infertility.
The primary focus of inflammation may be localized not only on genital mucous membranes, but also in the mouth or rectum. After contact with the pathogen in the oral cavity developed stomatitis and pharyngitis, for which there is excessive salivation and sore throat. In case of contact with gonorrhea in the rectum developed proctitis, which is characterized by pain during defecation, anal swelling, pus or mucous discharge.
In children, most often affects the eyes, the conjunctival of the eye is that, without early treatment leads to the destruction of the cornea. The main symptoms are photophobia, purulent discharge, hyperemia of the eyelids.
Gonorrhea begin to heal until after the exclusion of other diseases, sexually transmitted diseases. In the case of detecting them requires additional laboratory studies and carrying out the treatment.
