Ureaplasmosis - a disease, sexually transmitted agent which is an intracellular bacterium Ureaplasma urealiticum.
Often, the consideration is ureaplasmosis with mycoplasmosis, as these diseases are very similar. Infection with ureaplasma or mycoplasma, the microbes occupying an intermediate position between the bacteria and viruses, occurs only during sexual intercourse with infection carriers or patients (see the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases after casual relationships). Often, the diagnosis of the disease are detected, and other genital infections: chlamydia, trichomonas, mycoplasma, etc.
When ureaplasmosis incubation period ranges from two to four weeks. Typically, at this time the patient did not bother. After four weeks of symptoms of urethritis:
genital itching
burning in the urethra
discharge from the genital tract in the morning
increase in body temperature
deterioration of general condition
balanoposthitis (men)
If time does not begin treatment ureaplasmosis, symptoms disappear quickly, as the disease becomes chronic. The inflammatory process extends to the bodies of the genitourinary system, which can cause:
Prostatitis
vezikulita
epididymitis
cystitis
pyelonephritis
inflammation of the uterus and appendages
formation of adhesions in the fallopian tubes
Infertility
This infection is especially dangerous for pregnant women (see reproductive tract infections and pregnancy). It not only complicates the pregnancy, but also causes a premature birth. Also, there is a possibility of infection of the fetus during labor ureaplasmosis. To avoid these complications to all pregnant women and those planning pregnancy, should be tested for ureaplasma infection.
Currently, there are accurate methods of diagnosis ureaplasmosis, allow the detection of the disease even in the absence of symptoms:
PCR (polymerase chain reaction)
ELISA (enzyme immunoassay)
bacteriological methods
serological methods
